Poonthottam Ayurveda Ashram is located in a serene village atmosphere - ideally suited for healing - called Kulakkad in Palakkad district of Kerala. Kulakkad is near a small town called Cherpulassery. This center is part of the clinical research network promoted by Center for Ayurvedic Research and Development (CARD), Thrissur, Kerala, an organization that initiated activities related to a decentralized and cost effective form of clinical practice in Kerala.

Extensive facilities at the centre include comfortable patient rooms, treatment rooms with ensuite bathrooms and the privacy and tranquility essential to the healing process. Our relaxing and efficient outpatient clinic offers consultations and Ayurvedic treatment. Open from 9 am to 5 pm and Monday to Saturday, the pharmacy enables patients to access medicines and guidance. The centre can accommodate around 10 in-patients at a time.


A canteen in the campus provides vegetarian food for the patients according to physicians' advice on dietary requirements (Pathya). The facilities and assistance at the center are self contained that by-stander's are not required during the stay.

Apart from Ayurvedic methods, related practices like Yoga, Kalari, and Tantra enrich the therapeutic armamentarium. 

"Yoga is the appropriate union with oneself and that is the cardinal concept of healing. In Ayurveda, health is called Swasthya, which means staying in oneself. And for maintaining Swasthya, yoga  is  very important".

Every month, a Pooja based on tantric tradition is performed at the center for the welfare of the patients. The Poojas are conducted by renowned Thantri Bhramashri Narayanan Namboothiripad of Engakkat Mana ,Post Muthuthala, Pattambi.


Another attraction is a library with collection of good number of books on Ayurveda and related disciplines including old manuscripts and materials for lighter reading.

 

All the rooms are connected with intercom facilityInternet facility is also available in the centre.
